Sundström Safety AB manufactures respiratory protection equipment for industrial use. The products are designed to protect the wearer against dangerous and contagious substances by filtering inward-flowing air. They do not offer protection from dangerous and contagious substances which the wearer may generate whilst exhaling, as the products do not filter outward-flowing air.
Sundström Safety AB's products constitute product covered by Regulation (EU) 2016/425 for Personal Protective Equipment and are certified according to relevant and valid EN standards, as well as all, or part, of the range of products being approved by corresponding standards and regulations in the USA and Australia. In addition, many products have a so-called system approval, which implies that they have been approved for use only with products that have been tested and approved together.
Sundström Safety AB's products do not comply with Council Directive 93/42/EEC regarding medical devices and the standards required for medical equipment used in health care. This is due to the fact that Sundström Safety AB’s products do not protect from potentially dangerous and contagious substances which the wearer may generate whilst exhaling, as the products do not filter outward-flowing air. Furthermore, Sundström Safety AB's products are not sterile.
Use of Sundström Safety AB's products in situations and environments where there is a requirement to filter both inward- and outward-flowing air is at the user/organisation's own risk. Using products together that have not been tested and approved together is not permissible accordingly, and is therefore also at the user/organisation's own risk.
